KCI is a company that we use at our hospital for Vac wound dressings and the Roto-prone bed. They invite medical professionals to come to their company and learn about these products and why/when to use them. Their company is in San Antonio, Texas. We were treated very well during our stay. We were met at the airport by Richard and our driver Joe. Joe is a history buff and really enjoyed telling us some of the history of San Antonio. KCI treated us to dinner and drinks the first night. Next morning was the conference with breakfast and lunch. The Roto-prone bed was of big interest to everyone attending. Why and when to use it......all our questions were answered and I understand the use much, much better. I will have to see if Sunya has a picture of the bed so that all who are reading this will understand what I am talking about. After the conference, everyone else headed to the airport (we went with them), but, we didn't have to get off the bus. We had another nights stay (at KCI's expense) because they couldn't get us a flight out that night. LUCKY for us!!! More exploring. The Riverwalk was fun, lots of restaurants, lively people, lots of lights. That evening we headed to the mexican market and to Mi Tieros mexican restaurant. I had a wonderful time.
The roto-prone bed is used for patients with acute lung injuries, ARDS. The bed actually turns the patient from lying on their back to lying on their abdomen, plus at the same time it rotates them side to side. It helps with the mobilizing of secretions and lets the back of the lungs get re-expanded.
