"Sicko"

To any of my blog friends out there.....

I just saw the movie "Sicko" by Michael Moore. Just in case you are not familiar with the movie.....it is a look at the american healthcare system. We are one of the only countries in the world that does not a national healthcare system. Many in our country cannot afford to seek medical care. Many thousands die each year.

Can you tell me....how is your national healthcare? Does it work for you? Do you get to see the doctor in a timely manner? Does it take a long time to get elective surgeries done? Are your taxes high? Do you think you get good, quality care? How much do your medicines cost?

The cost of healthcare is outrageous over this way. People can't afford their medicines. People can't afford to go to the doctor. How do we start to change things? Any suggestions??

Hi Vicky, everyone in the UK moans about the National Health Service but really, they haven't got anything to moan about. We can see a doctor the same day if needed for no charge. We can call 999 free (911) and an ambulance would be there within 20 mins. Prescriptions are about £7 per item but those on benefit, children & OAP's don't pay. Sometimes you can wait months for surgery because they do it by priority and again it's all free of charge. Everyone is taxed one third of their earnings, high paid people are taxed even more. Of course everyone moans about that :O) Hope that helps, good luck X
